Although Laguna Beach is a coastal city, it is ideal to visit anytime of the year. With moderate temperatures, beautiful scenery and plenty of things to do, Laguna Beach should be high on the list of places to spend the weekend or even an extended vacation.
Of course, any summer day is perfect to visit the beach, however there are still some weather issues to deal with, including the famous “June Gloom” which is caused by a thick marine layer coming into the coastal communities for most of the month, leaving temperature rather cool and the skies overcast. The Laguna Beach season gets especially busy during world famous art festivals such as the Pageant of the Masters, Sawdust Festival and Festival of Arts. Local and international artists and visitors descend upon the city from July through September to check out creative art and fabulous displays.
If you plan to visit during the summer, expect to see a higher volume of traffic and tourists. Bike rentals and plenty of walkways make Laguna Beach a car-free destination, with many shops, dining, museums and attractions all within walking distance.
With sunshine year round, visiting Laguna Beach for any type of getaway is ideal. During the winter months, temperatures consistently stay in the mid to upper 60’s with Laguna Beach high temperatures around 66 for Christmas. Along with the costal airflow, Laguna Beach lo temperatures may often reach into the low 40’s during late night and early morning hours.
Summer months are a favorite for many travelers because temperatures rival even those of tropical getaways like Hawaii. During the peak of summer, which is July and August temperatures hover around the mid to upper 70’s with a Laguna Beach high of only 77 degrees on average. The amazing summer temperatures of this coastal city make it a perfect retreat from hotter inland temperatures, as well as those around the nation. Summer nights are cooler, so be sure to always carry around a light sweater for nights out on the town, or a light blanket for bonfires after the sun goes down. Sea breezes also cool down the area, turning a warm summer day into a cool, pleasant evening.
No matter what time of year you visit Laguna Beach, chances are you will be met with sunshine, great temperatures for the season and amazing views!
