Whether you are coming from a different part of California or another state entirely, there are many options in getting to Laguna Beach. While all major airports in Southern California are within driving distance to Laguna Beach, the most convenient is John Wayne Airport, which services every major airline to the Orange County area. Long Beach Airport is also a different option, being less crowded and smaller for domestic destinations only. From Laguna, John Wayne Airport is located near the 405 and 55 Freeways in the heart of Orange County, also near the Highway 1, more commonly known as the Pacific Coast Highway, which leads to Laguna Beach.
For those driving down into Laguna Beach from other cities, travel times vary. From Northern California around San Francisco, driving time is approximately 8 hours, while Phoenix and Las Vegas are approximately 6-7 hours away. Shuttle, coaches and buses from LA also offer service to Laguna Beach.  From Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles, public transportation offers service to Laguna Beach and its surrounding areas, in addition to the Amtrak and Metrolink trains and Greyhound bus service.
Getting around Laguna Beach may be hectic around peak travel times, especially during festivals, holidays or summer weekends. Many residents avoid traffic and Laguna Beach parking by riding bikes throughout the city or walking downtown since everything is in close proximity. Many hotels offer shuttle service to and from the airport, making travel more convenient for visitors.  If you are flying into Orange County and plan to visit other attractions within the area, a car rental may be your best option to get around. John Wayne Airport offers car rentals from companies such as Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Budget, Alamo and Avis.
In Laguna Beach, Ca, there are various modes of transportation that allow visitors to avoid the traffic and hassle of finding a parking spot through the use of trams that run from parking lots to the downtown area.
